ARUM
Arum (“AIR-uhm”) is a Chicago-based electronic music producer and DJ, specializing in various sub-genres of House music, including 90’s House, Experimental House, and Funky House. After gaining a humble and loyal following after winning several remix contests in the mid-late 2010’s (the most significant of which was Phuture Collective’s “Too Much” contest), Arum released his debut album, .beyond_____(ECSTASY), in 2024. The release was an experimental dance album heavily influenced by bass music, synthwave, and retro futurism. After he hosted the album release party of .beyond_____(ECSTASY) at Chicago’s underground music venue Bookclub, the album went on to receive over 250,000 streams from over 50,000 individual listeners worldwide in 2024 alone.
Maintaining his momentum from beyond_____(ECSTASY), Arum soon after released a remix EP for the album, titled .beyond_____(ECSTASY)/DLC Pack 1, which contained several remixes from other artists. Most notably, the remix EP contained Arum’s self-made House remix of his at-the-time most popular song Love Has Come Around. Since then, Arum has honed his skills into producing and DJing House music, which led to the release of his most successful song to date, the ‘90’s House-inspired Lush. Ever the prolific producer, Arum’s 2025 has consisted of releasing a new single every 4-8 weeks while additionally releasing commissioned remixes for artists such as legendary ‘90’s R&B singer George Lamond and up-and-coming Chicago pop artist Boy Maj. Each of Arum’s new original tracks and remixes are live-tested in front of audiences at Arum’s weekly DJ residency at the historic Weeds Tavern located in Chicago’s northside.
