New Music Next Month
Hey everyone, it’s that time again! You’re halfway through the week, and there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. While you enjoy your lunch break, let’s shed some light on what the team’s been up to lately. The 1230 family is currently putting the finishing touches on our latest project, a spoken word album that we’re pleased to share with you this spring. The writing, vocals and production all come from within the team, which combines diverse perspectives to create a dynamic energy in the studio. With backgrounds in journalism, music theory and EDM, the team has crafted a product that none of us could have created on our own. Look for the first single, “Above the Fold,” on February 8th.
While polishing the post-production for this project, we have also been busy collaborating with new artists, including poets, rappers and strong female vocalists. There’s no underestimating the power of collaboration, particularly when the artists share the same vision. As we often hear, art is a reflection of society. If we want to change social institutions, then, we must hold up the mirror and shatter our assumptions. There are no easy answers to the systemic issues we witness, perpetuate and fall victim to, often simultaneously. No shortcuts or binaries that can help us progress as a people. But there is dialogue. Here at 1230, we encourage you to have those difficult discussions, whether it’s an actual conversation or a dialogue between your art and our world. You have the agency to make a difference.
Meanwhile, in fashion, 1230 Entertainment is happy to have senior designer Beth Dixon back, after taking a leave of absence. We are now excited to produce the first full T. Marc collection, bringing creations from our family to yours. We’re looking forward to a great 2016, and it wouldn’t be possible without you.
